House of Haunts

Donna Heber over at Donna's Designs creates the most fabulous scenic cards.  She sponges the backgrounds and they look so realistic.  You must check out her website!!  I've wanted to give this technique a try for quite some time and I finally decided I would try it with a simple image.  I used the haunted house image from the House of Haunts Stamp Set.  I thought making a nighttime sky would be a good simple start for me.  I started by stamping my image in StazOn Jet Black Ink onto Glossy Cardstock.  Next, I covered up my moon with a circle I punched from a sticky note.  This was very important I finally discovered after a few tries.  lol  I then sponged the Not quite Navy Classic Ink around the house followed by some Night of Navy Classic Ink over the rest of the sky.  The moon is sponged in Daffodil Delight and More Mustard Classic Inks.  I also filled the windows in with the More Mustard Ink as well.  Finally, I sponged the ground in Always Artichoke Classic Ink.  This technique definitely takes some practice, but Donna was gracious enough to give me some very helpful tips.  So I can't wait to try this again with an even more intricate image.

I just want to thank Donna for her helpful tips again and I hope everyone has a fantastic Tuesday.  Take care.

Carrie,

What can I say ... I am blushing right now. Your Halloween card is awesome! I just made a card the other day with the House of Haunts set even before seeing your post. Guess we think alike. You have done a fantastic job! Looking back it wasn't so difficult, right?
