Stampin' Up's New Style Punch Organization

I'm always on the lookout for creative and cost effective ways to organize my scrapbooking room.  I thought I might start sharing some of my tricks to organization in my small space.  Last week I was trying to stuff a new punch into my over the door shoe organizer and it wasn't fitting.  It was completely full and was a  HOT mess.  The shoe organizer was a fantastic idea when I owned many of the paddle punches, but the new style punches don't fit so well.  I also have a very limited space so stacking them in a drawer or on the counter was not an option.  So I pondered over the idea of a new storage system for my Stampin' Up new style punches for a few days.  Then one evening I was getting some foil out of a little wire basket that hangs on the inside of my cabinet door and I realized this would be a perfectt fit for punches.  I found an over the door or wall mount pantry organizer at Wal-Mart in the kitchen section.  This works fantastic and the more punches you place in the baskets the snugger it seems to fit against the door.  I ended up sending Mike back to Wal-Mart the next day to buy me a second one.  Also, because the punches are meant to stack together, they sit nicely together the way I have them placed in the baskets.

If you have any questions just leave me a comment.  I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday.  Take care.

Brilliant! I would totally copy this, if I can figure out where I should put it.

Hi Carrie,
Great minds think alike. I use two of those wire storage containers to store my ribbon. It is so nice to see everything at a glance instead of going through boxes. I have seen the commercial ribbon holders which are very nice, but I have waaaay too much ribbon for those holders. Love the organization information.

Hi Donna,
Thanks so much for the sweet comments! I literally work out of a large walk in closet so I have to be super organized since I don't have much space.
For my Sizzix dies, I have them stored in a DVD rack (it's more like a mini book case) with adjustable shelves I found at Wal- Mart. It works great!
As far as for my stamp sets go, I put up the wire shelving. It was very affordable and it works great as well. I went from the ceiling to the floor with the shelves in order to use all space possible (I am short too so I store stuff I don't use often up high). Since they're not solid and I had them up long before Stampin' Up started selling the clear stamps, I just cut and laid a piece of poster board on the shelves. Works like a charm and I can stand them up without them falling through the holes. You could also use this for Sizzix Storage as well.
As far as ribbon, my husband made my ribbon holder. It's just dow rods and the ends are just scraps of 2 x 4's we had. Now what I have seen and I think is the coolest thing (I do intend to do this) is use pant hangers to store ribbon on. You could easily place a couple of those sticky hangers on the wall to hold them which is what I would have to do.
My punch storage works really well for both types of punches. I still have a few paddle punches and a couple of other odd style punches I store in there as well.
I had tons of Rubbermaid Drawers I used for a long time, but they would get heavy with stuff and not want to open. So I finally broke down and bought my countertop and shelving unit from the Container Store a few years back. It was expensive, but worth every penny to me because it fits perfectly where I need it to and is actually made for storing scrapbooking supplies.
I hope this helps you get some ideas. Just let me know if you have any other questions. I love organizing!!
